What is an Honors for a Day campus visit?
An Honors for a Day visit is a chance for you to meet one-on-one with an advisor to discuss how the University Honors Program can enhance your experiences at the University of Kansas. The University Honors Program will connect you with fulfilling opportunities including research, internships, and study abroad. You will find yourself a part of a dynamic community of thinkers and doers, connected via small courses, honors housing, learning communities, and a wide variety of extra-curricular activities across campus.
Top staff, faculty, and students provide a broad network of knowledge so that you can build a one-of-a-kind college career designed to explore your specialized interests and passions.
The Honors for a Day visit will help you learn more about these connections and opportunities.
What can you do on your visit?
In addition to an appointment with an advisor, you can get a taste of life as an honors student by constructing your own personalized visit to campus. You can request to:
- sit in on an honors course
- meet with a professor in your area(s) of interest
- speak with a current honors student
- tour a Residence Hall and/or Scholarship Hall
- take a campus tour with representatives from the Office of Admissions
- tour a lab or other research facility
- tour a professional school or department
If you choose to participate in these optional activities, be prepared to spend half a day to a full day on campus.
When should you come?
We strongly advise students to come to campus when classes are in session. Not only will you have more options to interact with students, faculty and staff, but you will also experience the University of Kansas at the height of its activity.

The University Honors Program hosts Fall and Spring Receptions for admitted Honors students. You received an invitation to either the Fall or Spring Reception based on your date of application.

Sign your contract for student housing
Templin Residence Hall is the Honors living-learning community. Honors students may choose to live in other residence halls, such as the Scholarship Halls.
Located on Daisy Hill, Templin Hall houses 280 students, almost all of them part of the Honors Program community. In Templin, you will enjoy a living environment that emphasizes academic achievement and faculty-student interaction. With study facilities and even classrooms located in the floor lobby, you will have all the resources you need for academic success.
This Residence Hall consists of recently renovated two person rooms with baths and four person suites. The building is located right across the street from Nunemaker Center, home of the University Honors Program.

Many honors students choose to live in the Scholarship Halls. Around 50 people live in each of the 12 Scholarship Halls. Students help with weekly duties, which reduces the cost of living. You will need to complete an additional application for the Scholarship Halls. More information can be found here.
